First Phase of the Former Corazon Opens!

As published in This Week Community News on December 11, 2012:

The first phase of the 60,000-square-foot facility formerly known as Corazon opened last week.

The former athletic center and event space in the Tartan West subdivision in Dublin’s northwest corner was purchased by PPR Corazon LLC for $1.4 million in January and openings for the facility are planned over time, a news release from the company said.

The Dec. 1 opening included Vita Fitness Corazon, which offers a boutique-style fitness club, as well as event space the Venue at Corazon.

“Our concept for the property is to manage the fitness and health club ourselves and open the facility to other best-of-class companies to operate and manage various additional amenities,” Bill Stevenson, general property manager for the site, said in the release. “The concept will be everything that the Dublin community expects — and more.”

Taste Hospitality Group will manage the 4,000-square-foot banquet, event and celebration center, offering catering for events from 10 to 170 at the Venue at Corazon, the release said.

Taste Hospitality Group operates Creekside Conference & Event Center in Gahanna and owns Mezzo Ristorante in Historic Dublin. Company president Sheila Trautner said the company has been looking for more event space.

“It just seemed like a great opportunity,” Trautner said.

“We have an event center on the northeast side of town,” she said. “Dublin is such a strong community.

“We had our eyes on finding something on the northwest side of town,” she said. “Frankly, I read an article in the paper about Corazon being sold and I contacted the ownership and spoke with them.

“We were able to work something out,” Trautner said.

The company now has a full-time event organizer for the Corazon location that offers a grand ballroom, restaurant and bar space, executive boardroom, wine room and outdoor space.

“We have events scheduled in December. We’re looking at bridal shows in January,” Trautner said. “The last couple of weeks we really started ramping up.”

Although Corazon has a past of closings, Trautner said the response from the community has been positive.

“We have no experience with what happened prior,” she said. “We’re coming in with a fresh start. The space is beautiful and lends itself to having amazing events.”

An open house for Vita Fitness Corazon and the Venue at Corazon are slated for 6-8 p.m. Dec. 11. Tours, appetizers and cocktails will be offered.
